POPULAR READING WORKSHOPS
"Read It Again, Please" We will bring together phonics and whole language as we strive to teach children to read in a creative, FUN manner. Teachers will introduced to interactive NEW ways to encourage their children to USE their classroom letter charts EVERDAY. Teachers will meet Brett [the bear, of course], while playing HANDS-ON reading games using a large pair of glasses, a magnifier, and a fly swatter! We will look at some of our favorite stories from a CBS viewpoint, as we use a potatoe chip can to climb the Chicka-Boom-Boom tree, watch the Very Hungry Caterpillar become a sock story, and design a puzzle book from Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Lots of learning... lots of NEW ideas... lots of fun... lots of music... all of which can be easily used in ALL Early Childhood classrooms!
 "Look Mommy, I'm an Author" After discussing the importance of bookmaking in the classroom, participants will design individual and classroom books, all of which can immediately be utilized in their classroom. Together, with a few folds, we will put a CBS twist to the traditional All About Me books... we will design a creative and fun Pop-Up book... and we'll make our very own Pooper Book. During the workshop, participants will Hang-Up the Laundry while telling a story and turn a pizza box into a pizza story. Totally interactive learning, with lots of ideas how to get parents involved with book-making as we design a Continue the Story book to be used in our classroom on Monday.
