IT ALL BEGAN WITH A CHILD
Created by Lois Wachtel, AKA Miss Lois or the Squish Squash Lady, Creative Beginning Steps is a new, innovative program, which began when Lois began to look at life through the eyes of her own 3 year old child, Adam [he is now 21 years old!]. When trying to choose the "perfect" pre-school for Adam, Lois noticed only upper case letters, art projects that all looked similar, and letter charts that were too high for little children to use. Something did not seem "right."
It took many years for Miss Lois to realize what this "something" was, and her questions led her to more questions. Eventually these answers formed what is now called Creative Beginning Steps. For 5 years, Lois incorporated these ideas into her pre-k classroom, and after 15 years as Education Director, she has hit the road with her program. Every Creative Beginning Steps' workshop is totally open-ended, hands-on, and FUN! The steps on the Creative Beginning Steps ladder are: reading, art, numbers, science, music, and movement.
So, whether you want some creative ideas on teaching children to read, count to 10, have fun in open-ended centers, or paint with bubbles and balloons, Creative Beginning Steps has something for YOU!
